Open Letter about Business Continuity
Il Sole24Ore (the Italian economic and financial newspaper)
defines the Business Continuity of a company as one of the fundamental points of the digital maturity test (August 27, 2018).
We all know that without computer science it's not possible to work. Too often, however, we pay attention only to the application dimension and we realize about the existence of infrastructure only when things don't go. The adoption of an architecture for business continuity helps to prevent rather than cure.
Only in this way the company can stay focused on core business and make the infrastructure a commodity, or even a service to buy.
Business continuity is unconnected to backup and cannot start from it: it's not only a technical issue, but it ensure the continuity of the production or the delivery of corporate services. Too often we have been told by customers: "everything is ok"; and then, when needed, to realize that parts were missing, or even that the breaking of a component of the computer system caused the loss of data.
Business continuity is necessary to face market competition.
